Join us for the conference “Helping Those Who Help: Challenges in the Work and Well-being of Professionals Providing Psychological and Legal Assistance”

The prolonged war, particularly the full-scale invasion of the russian federation into Ukraine, has resulted in catastrophic consequences across various sectors. One critical area, significantly impacting the country's recovery, is the psychological and mental well-being of its people.
 
The non-governmental organization Human Rights Vectorhas developed the “Helping Those Who Help” program, which offers training, supervision, and other support measures for professionals providing psychological and legal assistance. Our expert team includes specialists from Ukrainian, U.S., and Israeli backgrounds. (more details at the link hrvector.org/en/events/23-12-18-supervisory-group-sessions).
 
Through systematic training and psychological support, we empower professionals in assisting those in need and conducting educational outreach. This effort contributes significantly to the overarching goal of preventing and addressing social and collective trauma.
 
In culmination of the “Helping Those Who Help” program, Human Rights Vectoris hosting the conference “Helping Those Who Help: Challenges in the Work and Well-being of Professionals Providing Psychological and Legal Assistance”.

Key objectives of the event:
 
  • Analyze challenges encountered by professionals in the public, private, and governmental sectors providing psychological, psychosocial, and legal aid to victims of the russian federation's war against Ukraine.
  • Explore methods to enhance resilience for both professionals and their clients amidst prolonged stress.
  • Showcase successful examples of psychological and legal aid for war victims, both domestically and internationally.
 
Those invited to participate include psychologists, psychotherapists, medical professionals, lawyers, mediators, representatives of online support lines, social workers, and officials from Ukrainian and foreign organizations, government bodies, and donor agencies.
 
Ukrainian speakers will present for foreign experts at the event. Additionally, representatives from state authorities and local self-government bodies are invited to deliver speeches.
 
Language of the event:Ukrainian, with interpretation provided for foreign speakers.
 
Throughout the project, we've conducted:
 
  • 8 two-day online and offline training sessions, with a mix of theoretical and practical components. More details: hrvector.org/podiyi/23-12-14-14.12.23;
  • 8 online supervision group sessions and group reflection sessions, providing mutual assistance and discussing participant case studies;
  • A publication addressing psychological and psychosocial assistance for victims of the russian federation's war against Ukraine, featuring contributions from program participants.



For reference: The project «Helping those who help» is implemented by the NGO Human Rights Vector with financial support from the European Union, within the framework of the Stiykist Program. The Stiykist Program is a 30-month project funded by the European Union and implemented by ERIM in partnership with the Black Sea Trust, the Eastern Europe Foundation, the Human Rights Houses Foundation and the Human Rights House in Tbilisi. The project is aimed at strengthening the resilience and effectiveness of war-affected CSOs and civil society workers affected by the war in Ukraine, including independent media and human rights defenders.
